In multi-tenant buildings (MTUs) the MPOP is usually a single location or utility closet where regulated facilities enter the building. Beyond the MPOP, there may be multiple Network Interfaces (NIs) serving different apartments, suites, or floors.

In a campus arrangement, an industrial park, or in a multi-building apartment or business complex, the MPOP is normally in the first building where Company network services are terminated.
